WHY MINDFULNESS COMES FIRST

The root of all spiritual & personal development

I’ve spent years immersed in yoga & Vedic philosophy, Zen Buddhist meditation, Shamanic Healing as well as MBSR & Somatic Experiencing on the more clinical side. What all these seemingly disparate disciplines share at their core, is the cultivation of mindful presence.

So what does it mean to be present? I define it as an ability to clearly sense what is happening inside of you and in your surroundings. With that clear information – you can make quality decisions about what you want, what you need – and what might need to change. Without mindful presence, all of our decisions are made from a murky place.

Presence is the first and most crucial step to creating a life you love and – falling in love with the life you have.

This is why I infuse mindfulness into my Executive Coaching work and – teach it as a stand-alone discipline. It matters that much!

MY AWAKENING & HEALING JOURNEY

Mindfulness transformed my life

I first discovered yoga + meditation when I was a college student – and a much different person. I struggled with crippling anxiety, disordered eating, substance over-use – and a very dysregulated nervous system. The first concept that pierced my worldview was that of “prana” – or the animate life-force that exists within us and lights it from within.

While I was very used to hating myself and abusing myself with drugs & alcohol – some part of me deeply resonated with that concept, and it sparked a love-affair with spiritual inquiry that is still on-going. It was also the catalyst for the type of personal transformation that I didn’t believe was possible.

I live a life so full of joy, hope and wonder, that it almost feels unbelievable.

But it’s real – and – it’s available to all of us. Because let me tell you – if it’s possible for the girl I used to be – it is possible for ANYONE.
